AFCON Becomes The Third International Football Tournament To Be Postponed

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has postponed the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) till 2022 making it the third international tournament to be postponed for a year.

The 63 years old international tournament was postponed until 2022 on Tuesday after a meeting of the committee overseeing the competition CAF.

AllNews understands that AFCON became the third victim of coronavirus pandemic after Euros and Copa America, when it was on Tuesday postponed for a year. 

The 32nd edition of the once-in-two-years competition is held by Algeria who defeated Senegal in the final to be crowned champions. 

Some major leagues across Europe have resumed football activities but the disruption that the virus has caused continues not just in terms of financial standings of the clubs but also the global time table of events.
