AFCON: Egypt salvages 2-2 comeback draw against rivals Ghana

Egypt led by Mohamed Salah salvaged a 2-2 draw when they played against West African side Ghana in the AFCON cracker on Thursday night.

It was always going to be a difficult conquest as both sides net on the pitch having rivaled each other for a World Cup spot in the past couple of years.

Following the rivalry that ensued in the game, both teams sought a breakthrough goal was it was not going to come until at the stroke of half-time.

Mohamed Salah was injured for the Egyptian side and had to be replaced in the 45th minute by Mostafa Fathi.

The moment he was withdrawn, Ghana took the lead soon and in an exemplary fashion.

Ghana's Salis Abdul Samed set up Mohammed Kudus who withstood pressure from two opposing players to fire his shot outside the box to gift Ghana a special 1-0 lead into the break.

It was a cracker of a goal that Egypt would wish they could still get Salah on the pitch to help them in the course of the contest.

Egypt equalized in the 69th minute thanks to Omar Marmoush who was alert to capitalize from a defensive back pass to beat the Ghana goalkeeper to net for his side in the contest.

However, Ghana struck yet again through Mohammed Kudus as the star forward's deflected effort sailed into the net to gift the Black Stars a 1-2 lead.

He was assisted in the 71st minute by defender Denis Odoi but Egypt levelled things up to make it 2-2 in the 74th minute of the contest.

Mostafa Mohamed netted for the Pharaohs after Mahmoud Trezeguet profited from a blunder in the Ghana defence to set up his teammate Mostafa for the side's second goal of the match.

It finished 2-2 between Egypt and Ghana in the second Group B game in the ongoing AFCON.
