Burkina Faso booked a spot in the round of 16 at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2022 after playing out a 1-1 draw with Ethiopia at the Kouekong Stadium in Bafoussam on Monday evening.

The result, secured by goals from Cyrille Bayala and Getaneh Kebede, sees the Stallions finish in second place on four points (and therefore secure a guaranteed place in the knockout rounds), while the Walia Ibex have been eliminated after ending at the bottom of the standings.

Host Cameroon rounded up their Group A campaign at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2022 with a 1-1 draw against Cape Verde at the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde on Monday evening.

The result, secured by goals from Vincent Aboubakar and Garry Rodrigues, sees the Indomitable Lions miss out on a 100 per cent record but still finish top of the group, while the Blue Sharks came home in third and will have to wait to see if they advance into the round of 16 as one of the top-ranked third-place teams.

AFCON 2022: Gabon Send Skipper Aubameyang Back To Arsenal

Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been sent back to the Premier League side after a heart examination showed lesions in his heart, according to reports on Monday.

Aubameyang left Arsenal in January early to join Gabon National team for the African Cup of Nations but his goal was cut short as the COVID-19 positive test ruled him out of the first two games.
