AFCON Qualifiers: Peseiro Upbeat About Eagles Bouncing Back Against Guinea Bissau

AFCON Qualifiers: Peseiro Upbeat About Eagles Bouncing Back

Under pressure Jose Peseiro believes that the Super Eagles will return to winning ways in their reverse fixture against Guinea Bissau today.

The Eagles fell to a 1-0 defeat against the Wild Dogs of Guinea Bissau in the first leg of their AFCON qualifying in Abuja last Friday.

This shocking defeat helped Guinea Bissau to leapfrog the Eagles to the summit of the table in Group A with 7 points while the Eagles dropped to second with 6 points.

But addressing a news conference, Peseiro maintained that his side did well in the match at Abuja despite the public backlash to the team's poor showing.

"We came here to defend our country and beat Guinea, they are in the first position but I want to catch them in that position. It's going to be a different match tomorrow (Monday).

"We have the quality to finish better, I can't speak about the pitch, my players need to concentrate more.

"We have the quality to beat Guinea tomorrow, I have spoken to the players.

"When I saw the video again, I discovered that we have a very good game but we lost many scoring chances on Friday.

"We need to repeat the same play for our game tomorrow (Monday) and we need to score because it's not normal to be missing goals just like it happened in the first game.

The reverse fixture will be played today by 5:00 pm at the Estadio 24 de Setembro in Bissau.
