African Communication Council Postpones Annual Conference Over ASUU Strike

African Communication Council Postpones Annual Conference Ov

The African Council for Communication Education (ACCE), has postponed the 2022 edition of its annual conference due to the industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The Council revealed this in a statement cosigned by the National President, Prof. Nnamdi Ekeanyanwu and the Secretary, Prof. Ezekiel Asemah, released on Tuesday, in Uyo.

ACCE had scheduled October 25 to 28 for the 2022 conference themed “Communicating Science, Technology, and Innovation in Times of Economic Distress, Terror, and a Global Pandemic”.

The council in the statement said the ASUU strike "has brought untold economic and psychological hardships upon the majority of our members and potential participants.

“The new dates for the conference will be announced in due course. The programme schedules subsist.”

ACCE however noted that the submission of abstracts for the conference was still ongoing pending the suspension of the strike.

It announced that the postponement of the conference was a way of showing support to ASUU in its struggle to salvage the education system of the nation.

“We condemn the way in which the public university system is being managed by the Federal Government.

“Quality education plays a huge role in the development of any country. The earlier we realise this, the better for the country,” the council added.
