After Bubonic Plague, China Records Another Virus Outbreak

On the same day that China recorded a bubonic plague case, it also recorded a fresh case of dengue fever, state officials say.

The first case emerged from the city of Guangde after a resident of the city was diagnosed on Sunday.

The dengue fever is transmitted by mosquitoes that are carriers of the dengue virus, with symptoms developing after three to fourteen days after infection.

China's record of the dengue fever follows the report of the herdsman that was diagnosed with the bubonic plague that featured in the Middle Ages, also known as the Black Death.

The resident infected with the virus is reportedly being treated at a local hospital, with anti-virus efforts underway by local authorities.

This isn't China's first case of the virus, as it recorded cases of the virus in 2013, recording as high as 22,170 cases.

Health experts believe the new outbreak could surpass the previous outbreak, as the state nears its mosquito breeding season.

Symptoms of the virus include a headache, high fever, vomiting, and pains located in the muscle.

China battles two outbreaks, one of which the World Health Organisation (WHO) believes China has under control.

The bubonic plague is not considered high risk by the WHO, as the organization says that Chinese authorities are managing the outbreak well.
