The publisher of Cross River Watch, Agba Jalingo, has been released from detention after meeting bail conditions.
His release was confirmed by Inibehe Effiong, an activist.
Jalingo was arrested in August 2019 by the police for speaking against the Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, in an article. He was accused of treason and an attempt to subvert the Cross River State Government.
His long detention has made activist group, Amnesty International, describe him as "a prisoner of conscience."
After rejecting a number of bail applications brought before the court, it finally granted him bail last week, after groups protested Jalingo's detention.
