Aig-Imokhuede Urges Alumni To Help Younger Generations

Aigboje Aig-Imokhuede, the Chairman of the 50th-anniversary committee of the Old Students Association of Federal Government College, Kaduna, has encouraged alumni associations to help younger generations in receiving a quality education.

The Chairman gave this advice at the unveiling of the logo of the Old Students Association of Federal Government College, Kaduna.

“The alumni owe it a duty to help the younger generations access quality education and enjoy the dividends of the country considering they were trained with taxpayers’ money,” he said.

A statement by the association revealed that the association was ready to dispatch an endowment fund of 1 billion naira for the improvement of infrastructure and welfare of the alumni body. 

The president of the association, Seyi Gambo, explained that N500m of the fund would be committed to the improvement of the school.

‘‘This is one of the great ideas listed as part of the activities to mark the 50th anniversary of the school for impacting positive and winning attitudes in the present and past students. The other half will be for intervention in the lives of alumni.

‘‘The chief launcher will be Alhaji Aliko Dangote and other eminent personalities listed for the grand finale scheduled to hold in Abuja,’’ he explained. 

Gambo said the anniversary would take place in January 2023, with the theme, ‘Role of education in building a united and detribalised Nation’.

He noted that the activities of the event would take place in Kaduna, Lagos, Abuja, Port-Harcourt, Ibadan, and the United Kingdom 

On his part, Michael Magaji, the Vice-President, General of Unity Schools Old Student Association, Michael Magaji, called for a strong public policy in the education sector of the country. 

“If you look at the admission policy and the representation, it is not national anymore like it used to be in our time; so, we have to bring back those ideas and policies. Of course, there are limitations. People are feeling insecure about sending their child to various parts of the country because of security challenges,” he said.
