Bassey joined Ajax from Glasgow Rangers in the summer in a club-record deal worth £20 million.
He endured an underground start to the season after he was sent off in Ajax's Dutch Super Cup loss to PSV.
He subsequently missed the first two league matches of the season against Fortuna Sittard and Groningen.
The Super Eagles star has now started three consecutive matches for Ajax, and he has drawn the praises of the club legend Ronald De Boer.
“I’m really impressed with Bassey,” De Boer told the Daily Record.
“Rangers will not look forward to seeing him again.
“I have seen many defenders come to Ajax with what we call hard feet. When they leave, they have soft feet.
Calvin is still young and is able to learn that. He is a fantastic signing for Ajax.”
De Boer also stated that Bassey has cemented his place in the team’s starting X1.
“He brings strength and speed to Ajax. He is also good on the ball,”
Bassey has helped Ajax to three consecutive clean sheets in a row and also recorded an assist in their 4-0 thumping of Cambuur on Saturday.
The 22-year-old is in line to make his Champions League debut for Ajax against his former club, Rangers, on Wednesday.
Bassey made his Super Eagles debut against Ghana in a FIFA World Cup qualifier in Kumasi in March 2022.
