Akeredolu declares Tuesday As Work-Free Day For PVC Collecti

The Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has approved Tuesday, January 24, 2023, as a work-free day for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in the state ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

Akeredolu who gave the directive on Saturday stated that the move would allow every eligible voter in the state to pick up their PVCs at the locations designated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in their respective local government areas.

The governor also appealed to eligible voters in the civil service, the private sector, artisans and other residents and citizens of the state to take advantage of the opportunity and obtain their PVCs.

He urged the eligible voters to prioritise collecting PVCs so they can exercise their right to vote in the upcoming elections in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde.

“The importance of the forthcoming elections can not be overemphasised.

"There is an urgent need for us to address the low rate of PVCs collection in the Southwest.

“Beyond partisan lines, it is imperative that our people understand that the PVC is their license to enthrone desired political leadership.

“We are constrained to take this decision to enable our people take this advantage and collect their PVCs.

"It’s important that we all exercise our civic responsibilities."
