Akeredolu Sacks Ondo Attorney General Who Blocked Impeachmen

Rotimi Akeredolu, the Governor of Ondo State has sacked Justice Adekola Olawoye as the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice of the state.

Akeredolu who made this announcement in a statement by Segun Ajiboye, his Chief Press Secretary on Monday named Charles Titiloye as the new attorney general of the state.

Akeredolu did not however state the reason for his decision.

AllNews recalls that Olawoye had earlier stalled the move by the state's lawmakers to impeach the embattled deputy governor Ajayi Agboola.

Following Agboola's decision to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), lawmakers elected on the platform of the APC moved to impeach the deputy governor.

However, their move was blocked by the State's attorney who explained that they did not meet the requirement to impeach the deputy governor.

“Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has rejigged his cabinet. Following this, he has appointed front line human rights lawyer, Sir Charles Titiloye as his new Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.

“Titiloye is a human right activist and a renowned social critic. He was former Secretary of the Nigerian Bar of Association (NBA), Akure Branch. His name will be forwarded to the state House of Assembly for confirmation.

“Mr. Governor thanks the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice that has just been removed for services rendered to the state. He wishes him success in his future endeavours,” the statement read.

It will be recalled that Agboola who had a fallout with his principal in the buildup to the Ondo governorship election, dumped the ruling party to join the main opposition party (PDP).

Following his failure to clinch the party's ticket, Agboola dumped PDP for the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) where he got the governorship ticket on a platter.
