Senegal-American artiste Akon officially became the owner of an African city named ‘Akon city’ in his country of birth, Senegal.
He shared this message with his followers on Instagram, saying “Just finalized the agreement for Akon City in Senegal. Looking forward to hosting you there in the future.”
In a statement from the Senegalese government, the American singer and songwriter had pledged to invest in the tourism sector of his native country Senegal.
In other to bring his dream city to reality, the singer signed a deal with Senegal’s state-owned tourism company SAPCO.
Meanwhile, SAPCO’s secretary-general, Alioune Ndiaye, while talking to AFP said the deal was only a memorandum of understanding.
He, however, stated that Akon would build a complex in the village of Mbodiene.
