The Department of State Services (DSS), Akwa Ibom State Command, has announced its readiness to arraign several suspects arrested for various crimes, including cultism, kidnapping, murder, and armed robbery, in different parts of the state.

Dr. Doyin Adetuberu, the new DSS State Director, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to his office by the new Executive Council of the Akwa Ibom State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Dr. Adetuberu highlighted that the achievement was made possible through an intelligence-led approach, in close collaboration with other security agencies and civil society organizations.

He mentioned that since assuming office in January, several notorious areas in Uyo, the state capital, and other crime-prone locations outside the city have been raided, resulting in the arrest of suspects who will soon face prosecution.

He assured that the security agencies in the state would continue to work diligently, emphasizing a people-centered approach with active involvement of security stakeholders, media, and ordinary citizens.

Drawing from his over two decades of experience in the service, Dr. Adetuberu expressed his commitment to addressing the security challenges in the state effectively.

Bassey emphasized the professionalism of journalists within the Correspondents’ Chapel, emphasizing ethical reporting over adversarial journalism for the betterment of the nation.
