World number two Carlos Alcaraz secured a quarter-finals slot at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells following the retirement of Jack Draper.
The Brit was forced to retire in the second set of the fourth-round clash due to an abdominal injury he sustained in his third-round match against compatriot Andy Murray.
Draper started the game looking sharp and bright early in the opening set, but his serve and movement suffered as the first set went on as Alcaraz ran away with the opener 6-2.
This prompted the physio to administer treatment in-between sets but there was no improvement from the 21-year-old who took one point from the first two games of the second set before retiring.
The Spaniard wished the Briton a speedy recovery after the umpire ended the match on Tuesday night having competed for 46 minutes.
Reviewing his performance, Alcaraz said: "I felt the ball really well. I'm really happy with that part.
"I would say I returned well, I hit great shots.
"I finished the match with confidence in my shots, to come into the next round with more confidence."
With this result, Alcaraz moves within three wins of regaining the world's number-one ranking.
