Alexis Sanchez completed his permanent transfer to the San Siro early Tuesday since he moved to Italy on loan, last summer, after a disappointing spell at Manchester United, under Jose Mourinho. He became the 3rd player to leave Man United for Inter Milan after the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Ashley Young, and the 4th player from England to Inter Milan which includes Christian Eriksen.

AllNews looks at the massive exodus of players from England recently especially from Manchester United, possible reasons and how their career has been in some way rejuvenated.

Romelu Lukaku

The Belgium all-time top scorer had a wonderful spell at the Goodison Park in Everton which made Manchester United sign him in the summer of 2017. The 27-year old player scored 26 goals in all competition for the Toffees, providing 7 assists.

After he signed for United, the first season he scored 27 goals in all competition with 9 assists which was better than his return at Everton. He came under scrutiny when the statistics were further analyzed, Everton played in just EPL, Carabao, and FA Cup in England but United played all that and even in Europe. Much was expected from the £85 million striker.

The striker was not clinical enough in front of the goal when comparing the kind of service, he receives from Man Utd midfielders and wingers with those at the Goodison Park.
His return took a more obvious nose dive when he scored 15 goals the following season with 3 assists.

Although they defeated PSG at Parc des Princes in the Champions League of which Lukaku was instrumental, he was deemed unfit to the Red Devil and sold to Inter Milan.

The former Everton striker has shown this season that he is not done yet, scoring 30 goals in all competition, helping Inter Milan finish the Serie A season 2nd to Juventus with just a point behind them. He could increase the goal tally with the resumption of the Europa League, he helped his side overcome Getafe on Wednesday night in Germany scoring the first goal of the night which later ended 2-0.

He has shown he is more comfortable with Antonio Conte, forming a world duo partnership with Lautaro Martinez. He has proved that he is better suited for Inter Milan than United.

Ashley Young

The English versatile full-back signed for United in the summer of 2011, after an impressive play at Aston Villa the previous season scoring 9 goals with 11 assists. He landed in United firing all cylinders, his first season he scored 8 goals, 12 assists but the number fell the following season, scoring no goals with just 3 assists in 27 starts, appearing 33 times.

He never recovered after that time, with his best return in a season, not more than 3 goals and a maximum of 6 assists.

The former Aston Villa player moved to Inter Milan in the winter window for £2 million. He has shown again that Serie A is a better place for him. Since joining in January, with all the coronavirus break he has scored 4 goals and assisted 4, better than 5 seasons at Man Utd.

He has once again started playing with smiling faces scoring fantastic goals typical of him under the new management of Antonio Conte.

Christian Eriksen

The Danish attacking midfielder left the White Hart Lane since signing for Tottenham from Ajax in the summer of 2013. He has scored more than 60 goals for the English side, providing 89 assists in 305 appearances over a span of 6 seasons. He moved to Italy under Antonio Conte in January, scoring different goals typical of him; free-kicks, volleys, providing meaningful assists. In his last season at the Hotspur, he scored 3 goals and 3 assists, in less than a season at the San Siro he has scored 4 goals with 3 assists.

He could be on his way to his first major trophy in 6 years, first European trophy in his career after his side cruised passed Getafe in the Europa League round of 16 on Wednesday night where he scored the second goal in a 2-0 match. Another EPL star enjoying a rejuvenated start in Serie A club.

Alexis Sanchez

The Chilean player has a wonderful spell at Arsenal but after a swap deal between Arsenal and Manchester United for Alexis Sanchez for Henrik Mkhitaryan, he saw his career take a nosedive after moving to Old Trafford.

His last season at Arsenal, he scored 30 goals with 15 assists in all competitions. That was the last time he scored up to 10 goals. He has been down with an injury, inconsistency, lack of game time, depression. He moved to Inter Milan to get some game time, that was the best decision for him, he completed a permanent move to Conte’s side after 9 assists with 4 goals.

Manchester United terminated his contract on mutual agreement and he joined Inter permanently.
