Nigeria and Algeria will face each other for the 22nd time when both sides square off at the Miloud Hadefi Olympic Stadium in Oran on Tuesday night.

Both teams missed out on the World Cup in Qatar to Cameroon and Ghana, respectively.

The Algerians have won their last three matches against Nigeria, with the latest victory being a 1-0 win in 2020.

The Super Eagles are currently fourth in Africa and 31st in the world, while the Desert Foxes are seventh in Africa and 41st in the world.

Algeria have won their last six matches since missing out of the World Cup to Cameroon, including two victories in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Uganda and Tanzania.

Nigeria have won two and lost two of their last four matches since the World Cup debacle.

The Super Eagles started their 2023 Africa Nations Cup qualifiers with two wins from two against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe.

Nigeria are winless in six of their nine games in all competitions, losing four and drawing two.

The Super Eagles will be without the services of their numerous stars, including captain Ahmed Musa, William Troost Ekong, Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi, Samuel Chukwueze, Emmanuel Dennis, and Sadiq Umar.

Algeria defender Abdelkader Bedrane has been ruled out of the encounter after he was forced off injured against Guinea on Friday.
