The Commissioner of Police in Cross River, Abdulkadir Jimoh is dead. AllNews Nigeria reports that Jimoh who has been battling an undisclosed illness died early Friday morning at a COVID-19 Isolation Centre at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) Calabar. Efforts to contact the spokesperson, DSP Irene Ugbo via a phone call were abortive at the time of filing this report.

2. Federal University Lokoja Gets New Vice-Chancellor

Professor Olayemi Durotimi Akinwumi has emerged as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja (FUL). This was disclosed by the Chairman of the screening committee, Senator Chris Adighiji at a brief press conference in Lokoja on Friday. AllNews Nigeria learnt the committee received 81 applications from prospective qualified candidates for consideration.

3. Kankara Abduction: Reno Omokri Sides Pres. Buhari On One Thing

Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s aide on new media, Reno Omokri, says despite that he is a strong critic of President Muhammadu Buhari, he agrees with him using Miyetti Allah to secure the release of the Kankara Boys. The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed had on Friday disclosed that President Buhari coordinated the rescue efforts of the abducted schoolboys from his hometown despite that he did not visit in person.

The recently-released Kankara schoolboys will be meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday. The meeting, according to the Secretary to the Katsina State Government, Mustapha Inuwa, is set to hold at the presidential lodge of the state government house in Katsina. This was disclosed to TheCable by Inuwa through his media aide, Abdullahi Yar'Adua, adding that the meeting will hold by 3 pm.

The decision has compelled MTN to announce a migration plan for its subscribers next month. MTN Nigeria said the migration of its subscribers is in preparation for the roll-out of the fifth generation of mobile network (5G), which has been a controversial issue in Nigeria. Recall there had been denial that NCC has issued license MTN Nigeria to connect its subscribers to 5G network following criticism.
