1. Fire Accident Kills Three Family Members In Kano

Kano State Fire Service, on Monday, confirmed the death of three persons from the same family, who died in a fire accident at Rijiyar Zaki in Ungogo Local Government Area of the state. According to the service Public Relations Officer, Saidu Muhammed, the incident that saw the whole house burnt down happened at about 3:18 am.

2. IPOB's Nnamdi Kanu Roasts Chimamanda Adichie Over Biafra Comments

Biafran political activist, Nnamdi Kanu has chastised multiple award-winning Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie for saying she still does not think the Easterners seceding from Nigeria is the answer to citizens' cries. Kanu slammed Chimamanda in a Special Broadcast on Radio Biafra on Sunday. The broadcast was monitored by this reporter. The 53-year-old leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) insists that nothing is going to stop him from pursuing the Biafran dream.

3. NIN: NIMC Warns Nigerians To Be Wary Of Fake App

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) on Monday warned Nigerians to be wary of fake National Identity Number (NIN) App created by fraudsters to harvest people’s NIN and BVN by default. The Commission made this known via its verified Twitter handle when it was educating Nigerians on the difference between the fake and original app. NIMC who disassociated itself from the app said the app is run by fraudsters who use it to harvest people’s NIN and Bank Verification Number.

4. Pope Francis Amends Catholic Church Law For Women

Pope Francis has amended the Catholic Church law to allow women to do more things during Mass, granting them access to the most sacred place on the altar while continuing to affirm that they cannot be priests. The head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State, Pope Francis made this known in an apostolic letter released on Monday, January 11, 2021, Naija News understands. According to the clergy, the amendment was to allow women to act as readers and altar servers in liturgical celebrations. The Church leader, however, insisted that women are limited to the new development and are not allowed to become priests.

Nigerian political activist, Nnamdi Kanu, has said that Biafra, to agitators, "is a religion". Kanu stated this in a Special Broadcast on Radio Biafra on Sunday. The 53-year-old leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) also expressed his utmost confidence that the restoration of Biafra will be achieved.

7. How Dangote Lost $900m In 24 Hours

The total net worth of the Nigerian billionaire and business magnate, Aliko Dangote dropped by $900 million on Friday as his flagship company emerged the biggest loser at the end of trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Updates by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which is a ranking of the world’s 500 richest people, showed that Dangote's wealth fell from $18.4bn on Thursday to $17.5bn on Friday, making him the 114th wealthiest man in the world, down from 106th the previous day.

8. Don Jazzy Officially Joins Stingy Men Association, Displays ID

Music producer Michael Collins Ajereh, better known as Don Jazzy or Don Baba J has officially joined the Stingy Men Association of Nigeria (SMAN). Don Jazzy made this known on Monday via his official Twitter handle where he said  "registration complete", displaying a picture of his identification card. On the card, Don Jazzy is tagged head of the union Lagos branch.

9. Court Grants Sowore N20 Million Bail

The chief magistrate court sitting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, on Monday, January 11, granted bail to the Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore in the sum of N20m. Four other activists, who were arrested alongside Sowore on New Year’s Eve in Abuja for holding a protest against bad governance, were also granted bail in the sum of N1m each.

10. Why NIMC May Suspend NIN Registration Soon

The Minister of State for Health, Olorunimbe Mamora has revealed that the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) might suspend the National Identity Number (NIN) registration as a result of the upsurge of COVID-19 cases. Mamora who said this while appearing on Channels TV on Monday explained that the suspension is to curtail the further spread of COVID--19.
