1. Prominent Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Ahmed Lemu Is Dead

The death has been announced of Nigerian pedagogue, Sheikh Ahmed Lemu. One of his children, Nurudeen who made the announcement on Thursday morning, said that Sheikh Ahmed Lemu passed away in the early hours of Thursday. He is believed to be 91. "Inna lillahi wa inna liayhi raji'un. It is with sadness and reverence to Allah that we announce the passing away of our father, Dr Justice Sheikh Ahmed Lemu OFR, in the early hours of this morning in Minna," Nurudeen wrote on his known Twitter handle.

2. Edo Governor Signs 2021 Appropriation Bill Into Law

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State on Wednesday signed the state’s 2021 Appropriation Bill pegged at N164.7bn into law after the bill was passed by the Edo State House of Assembly. Obaseki said the budget named, ‘Making Edo Great Again Budget’ is anchored on economic recovery amid the coronavirus pandemic, whilst building a workforce of the future. AllNews gathered that Governor Obaseki, who signed the budget at the Executive Chambers in Government House in Benin City said his administration prioritized recurrent expenditure in the budget.

3. Primate Ayodele Releases Unmissable 2021 Prophecies For Nigerian Banks

The founder and leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Elijah Ayodele, has released unmissable 2021 prophecies concerning Nigerian banks, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and other financial institutions in the country. AllNews Nigeria reports that Primate Ayodele said “The CBN LOGO will still be changed in the future not now. I foresee that the LOGO will still be adjusted. CBN will mount pressure on banks that failed to comply with the recapitalization directives." According to clergyman, new banks will still merge, while many others will be exposed as CBN will carry out a review of its policy on stamp duty payments.

4. IGP Orders Tight Security Nationwide Ahead Of Yuletide

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu has ordered tight security arrangements and high proactive visibility patrols across the country ahead of the Christmas and New Year Celebration.  Adamu further directed all Zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) and state police Commissioners to strengthen their strategies on crime prevention in their respective zones to ensure a crisis-free holiday season

5. 'No Going Back On Eastern Security Network', Biafra Political Activist, Nnamdi Kanu Of IPOB Vows

Biafran activist, Nnamdi Kanu on Thursday vowed that "there’s no going back" on the newly-launched Eastern Security Network (ESN), AllNews reports. Kanu, the self-exiled leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) made this pledge on his known Twitter handle. According to Kanu, 'Nigeria is a failed state'.

Seven days to his retirement, Flour Mills of Nigeria's Group Managing Director, Paul Gbadebo, has acquired more shares within the company, strengthening his grip as one of the major shareholders and decision makers in Flour Mills. AllNews learnt that Gbadebo acquired shares of 15,000 unit at NGN24.70 kobo per share, on December 15, 2020, eleven days after AllNews reported his retirement from Flour Mills on December 31, 2020. This increases Gbadebo's worth at Flour Mills to about NGN280 million.

8. Flavour Spends Christmas With Aged Father

Popular Nigerian singer Flavour N'abania or simply Flavour has chosen to spend the Christmas holiday season with his family members as he performed a melodious song to his aged father Benjamin Okoli. The singer posted a lovely video on Instagram that captured a beautiful, memorable, and emotional moment between him and his father. The old man remained seated on his chair as his son filled the room with the sounds from his guitar. Sharing the video, Flavour disclosed that the performance was a Christmas gift to his old man. 

9. Zoom To Launch Email service, Calendar App

Videoconferencing platform Zoom is looking to expand beyond workplace video chat and into new territories, specifically email and calendar services, according to a new report from The Information. The platform has had a blockbuster year, with its stock price rising more than 500 percent due to the unprecedented surge in remote work brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. The company is already working on the email product, which the report states will be a web email service and may begin testing as early as next year.
