1. UNILAG Interim Governing Council Confirms Ogunsola As Acting VC

The John Momoh-led interim Governing Council of the University of Lagos has confirmed the appointment of Folasade Ogunsola as the acting Vice-Chancellor of the institution. The governing council confirmed her appointment at a virtual meeting on Tuesday.

2. Be Patient With Us - Minister of State for Education To Students

The Federal Government has called for more patience from students after schools in the country were forced shut due to the coronavirus pandemic. This call for patience was made by the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba during the briefing of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19. 

3. FACT CHECK: IGP Debunks 'Suspension' Of Police Recruitment Screening Exercise

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu has reassured Nigerians that the statutory entry requirements into the Nigeria Police Force remain sacrosanct and would be thoroughly followed in the ongoing Police recruitment screening exercise. The IGP’s reassurance became necessary following news reports making the rounds in some sections of the media that the IGP has suspended the entry requirement for candidates who applied to join the Nigeria Police Force as Police constables in the ongoing recruitment screening.

4. EFCC Seeks NBA’s Intervention Against Frivolous Motions

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) has tasked the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) against frivolous ex-parte applications of lawyers, which often affect the operations of the Commission. Making the appeal on Monday, August 24, 2020, was the Kano zonal head of the EFCC, Sanusi Aliyu Mohammed, when the leadership of the Kano Branch of the NBA paid him a courtesy visit.

5. Nigerian Banks To Become Collection Agents For Electricity Payment

Nigerian banks will become the collecting agent for electricity bill payments. The electricity distribution companies will no longer be in charge of the collection as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) intends to ensure discipline in payment of electricity fee. According to a statement from the CBN’s director of banking supervision, Bello Hassan, the banks will now collect Discos' goods and service charges directly, as no entity, except the deposit money banks authorised by the CBN will handle payment collection.

6. Here Are Six Reasons Why CBN Eliminated Third Party In Forex Applications

Individuals or organizations with Form M who apply for forex through third parties such as companies and agents will no longer have access to forex as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) tightens its grip on the disbursement of forex. The new policy by the CBN is to eliminate third parties in the process of acquiring forex. AllNews gathered that CBN now wants to deal directly with the companies or applicants in need of forex and not a third party. This will enable CBN to track the disbursement and ensure prudent use of the forex. The decision is also expected to prevent double-handling as well.

It seems eating of excreta is now a new form of money ritual as the Oyo State Police Command has arrested one Emmanuel Egbu, a trader at the Sango area of Ibadan for eating excreta with bread.

10. NPFL: Details Emerge Of Kano Pillars Chairman's Meeting With Bauchi State Comm'r For Sports

The Bauchi State Government has pledged to support Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) giants, Kano Pillars, for a successful outing in the forthcoming 2020/2021 CAF Confederation Cup. AllNews reports that the pledge was made by the state’s Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Alhaji Adamu A. Manu while receiving Kano Pillars Chairman, Alhaji Surajo Shaaibu Jambul in his office on Monday in Bauchi.
