1. Osun Schools To Reopen January 18

Osun State Government has issued a directive for all schools to reopen for the continuation of the 1st term session on Monday, 18th January 2021. The directive was contained in a statement made available to pressmen by the Coordinating Director of the Ministry of Education, Kehinde Olaniyan.

2. Certificate Forgery: Court Exonerates Obaseki

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State was on Tuesday exonerated by the authorities of the University of Ibadan (UI) over the alleged forgery of his degree certificate brought against him by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). AllNews learned that the degree certificate presented by the authorities of the school was confirmed to have been issued to Governor Obaseki by the institution in 1979 after his formal graduation.

3. Indigenous People Of Biafra Sends Strong Warning To Gov. Umahi Over Latest Arrest Order In Ebonyi

The outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has condemned Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, for ordering the arrest of persons circulating fake video of an attack on herders in Ebonyi State.  IPOB labelled such actions as foolishness, saying the governor chose to dine with the oppressors of his people. The group said this in a statement released on Tuesday through its media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful. 

4. COVID-19: Nigeria Records Highest Daily Figure Ever

The Nigeria Center for Disease and Control (NCDC) on Tuesday confirmed 1,354 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) infections and one additional death across the country. The health agency made this known via its official Twitter handle on Tuesday night. It tweeted that the daily figure recorded is the highest number ever in a single day since the first index case was reported in Nigeria on Feb. 27, 2020.

5. JAMB Opens Portal For 2020/2021 Admissions Process

The Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Is-haq Oloyede on Wednesday said its portal has been opened for the 2020/2021 admissions process, AllNews reports. Professor Oloyede said all the admission processes will go through the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) for approval. He added that opening the portal gives institutions access to upload names of shortlisted applicants for the 2020/2021 admissions.

6. REVEALED: Marcus Rashford Is Football's Most Valuable Player

Manchester United and England forward, Marcus Rashford is now football's most valuable player, according to the CIES Football Observatory. Rashford topped the list at a value of €165m, while Borussia Dortmunds Erling Haaland (€152m) and Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold (€151m) complete the top three. The 23-year-old's United teammate, Bruno Fernandes was placed fourth.

7. Dr Dre Hospitalized For Brain Aneurysm, Says He'll Be Home Soon

Legendary rapper Dr Dre has been hospitalized after suffering a brain aneurysm earlier this week. There are indications though, that he is recuperating fast as he issued a statement Tuesday night that he’s “doing great” and expects to “be out of the hospital and back home soon.” The rapper had said in a post on Instagram that he is getting excellent care from the medical team and thanks to family and friends for their interest and well wishes.

8. Nicki Minaj Follows Tacha

Controversial Big Brother Naija ex-housemate, Natacha Akide ‘Tacha’ is pretty excited as she joins the 316 people followed on Instagram by American rapper, Nicki Minaj. Tacha, in a video where she expressed her excitement, via Instagram, said she is no longer on the same level with others in the entertainment industry, adding that her fee has increased.

9. OPEC, Non-OPEC Countries To Up Production By 0.5mb/d In January

The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the non-OPEC countries have agreed to increase crude oil production by 0.5 million barrels per day (mb/d) this January. The group made the decision at the 13th OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting (ONOMM), held via videoconference, on Tuesday in Vienna. 

10. Apple To Add Blood Pressure Monitoring On Brand Watch

A new finding of a patent reportedly filed by Apple has generated suggestions that the company is looking into the idea of probably including a blood pressure monitoring tool in the Apple Watch. The report credited to Apple World Today, further adds that measuring blood pressure right now requires an external device that involves the use of oscillometry cuffs.
