The organisers of the Africa Movie Academy Awards have announced a postponement in the 2020 nominations due to global restrictions as a result of COVID-19 pandemic.
The announcement was made in a statement on the awards' official Instagram handle.
According to the organisers, the restrictions have disrupted the travel plans of most of the members of the jury, hence the postponement.
"The statement read "We live in uncertain times and due to the global movement restrictions as a result of the COVID pandemic which has has distrupted the travel plans of most members of the AMAA jury...
"We have been forced to reschedule The Africa Movie Academy Awards nominations across all categories from 20th of November to the 30th November, 2020.
"The date of the Awards ceremony remains 20th of December.
Recall that the organisers earlier announced that there have been delays and changes in the dates due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"This year, due to the pandemic, there has been delays and date changes because we have been hoping for the world to open up so we can congregate physically for the AMAAs.
"Film making and awards are about team and networking, rooms filled with happiness, laughter, wine, dances, and jubilations, for the year’s hard work."
