Amotekun Foils Armed Robbery On Akure-Ibadan Expressway

The operatives of Osun Amotekun Corps on Friday night dislodged armed robbers terrorizing the motorists along Akure/Ibadan expressway.

The personnel of the security outfit foiled the robbery operation during their routine patrol where they recovered a Ford J5 wine color with the plate number SBG 126XB loaded with Diesel Engine Oil.

According to the Corps Commander, Brigadier-General Bashir Adewinmbi, the attention of the operatives was called to the robbery incident by passersby plying the route and they swung into action immediately and dislodged the armed robbers who later ran into the bush.

The expressway has been a perpetual route for armed robbers for a long time.

Also, confirming the incident, General Adewinmbi asserted that the men of the corps on a routine patrol along the Akure/Ibadan Expressway were alerted to the activities of armed robbers along the road and they swung into action immediately to dislodge the criminals and the robbers later ran into bush after the Amotekun operatives engaged them.

"We have reached out to the owner of the recovered items and the driver through the waybills and the vehicle and the items will be handed over to them."

Adewinmbi also revealed that the operatives are working day and night to send criminals out of the state.

He urged the residents of the state to expose criminals in their environment to the security agents and they should be security conscious about their environment.
