Amuneke Reveals Interest In Super Eagles Coaching Job

Former Nigeria international Emmanuel Amuneke has made known his desire to coach the Super Eagles if given the opportunity.

Amuneke's declaration trails reports of current head coach Jose Peseiro getting dismissed should the Eagles suffer another defeat against Guinea Bissau today.

“I’ve never coached the Super Eagles, I’ve only gone twice to assist someone but coaching Super Eagles on my own I have not,” Amuneke told News Central.

“But of course, Nigeria is my country and the national team we are all part of it and when the opportunity comes and Nigerians feel that we can add something to the national team, of course, it's a welcome development."

Amuneke, who was part of the Super Eagles side that won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia, is currently a consultant to the coaching team of the Zambian Super League club, Zanaco FC.

He once coached the Tanzania national team and qualified them for the 2019 AFCON.

The former winger also handled the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria and guided them to win the U-17 World Cup in Chile in 2015.
