Nollywood actress Bimbo Ademoye took to her Instagram to express her gratitude and honour her father after receiving the Best Actress in a Comedy award at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
The prestigious event took place on May 20, showcasing the talents and achievements of Nigerian actors and filmmakers.
In a heartfelt post, Ademoye shared a video of herself driving home to meet her father.
She revealed that she had gone back home to present the award to her biggest supporter and rock, her father.
Despite his absence, Ademoye knew exactly where he would be – spending time with his friends in their neighborhood on Sundays
She fondly recalled how her father had accompanied her to her first audition, patiently waiting for six hours until she was done.
The talented actress also acknowledged the influence of her neighborhood, which has played a significant role in shaping her acting career.
From her portrayals of characters like Iya Barakat, Todowede, to Selina, Ademoye expressed her gratitude to the people from her hood who have inspired and brought laughter to audiences.
She mentioned how she had emulated individuals from the neighborhood to give life to these memorable characters.
Ademoye proudly identified herself as Bimbo Ademoye, the daughter of Ademoye Adekunke, the aunt of Ari, and someone hailing from Ebute Metta.
She emphasized her strong connection to her roots, being born and bred in the neighborhood that has played a significant role in her journey.
Expressing her appreciation, Ademoye hinted that she is currently preparing a speech to thank all the individuals who have contributed to her success.
