Anambra Government Begins Cleanup Of Awka City

The Awka Capital Territory Development Authority has commenced a total cleanup of the Awka metropolis.

Speaking during the exercise which started on Saturday, the Managing Director of the agency, Ossy Onuko said that the exercise will become a regular feature as efforts to sanitize the capital city is in top gear.

 He said the agency will be assisted by other sister agencies to ensure that Anambra State and Awka in particular is clean, wearing a befitting ambiance of a state capital.

Onuko revealed that they have a five year master plan of making the Awka Capital Territory, a first choice investment destination for any investor in South East and beyond.

He called on the residents of the city, traders and shop owners to ensure prompt and proper desilting of drains in front of their houses and business premises in other to make roads within the Awka Capital Territory to last longer.

During the exercise, officials of the agency were seen cutting overgrown grasses, as well as cleaning up drainages in some locations along Enugu-Onitsha express road, streets, markets among numerous others.
