#AnambraDecides: Reports Of Violence As Supplementary Electi

Elections postponed to November 9, at the Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra state has resumed amid cases of vote-buying and reported killing of residents by soldiers.

It was observed that the process which was supposed to begin by 10 am resumed only a few minutes to 2 pm.

Eyewitnesses also said the delay in the kick-off of the election has made a lot of voters return home without exercising their mandate.

It was also observed that vote-buying is the order of the day in Isiala Ward as votes sell as high as N5,000 in Isiala ward

In another development, soldiers who were said to be monitoring the election have shot a yet to be identified man dead in Ihiala.

It was learned that the soldiers from a patrol van reportedly opened fire on commuters hundreds of meters away from the LGA headquarters, leading to the death of the victim.

There is also a report of heavy shooting in Lilu, one of the towns in Ihiala Local Government Area. Reports indicate that three towns, Iseke, Orsumoghu, Lilu are IPOB strongholds and they had warned that there would not be elections in their domains.

Eyewitnesses say the militants were shooting from the bushes in Lilu to prevent INEC officials from conducting elections. It was however disclosed that security operating are trying to subdue them.
