Argentine winger Angel Di Maria has completed a nostalgic return to Portuguese side Benfica, marking a full circle in his European career.

The 35-year-old, who previously played for the club between 2007 and 2010, has signed a one-year contract, according to reports.

Benfica enthusiastically welcomed Di Maria back with open arms, releasing a video announcement that quickly went viral. "Welcome home, Di Maria!" the club exclaimed, expressing their delight at securing the services of the talented winger once again.

Di Maria's initial stint with Benfica proved to be a pivotal moment in his career, acting as a springboard for his subsequent move to Spanish giants Real Madrid. During his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, he enjoyed tremendous success, clinching a league title, two domestic cups, and the coveted UEFA Champions League trophy.

Following his illustrious spell in Madrid, Di Maria embarked on a new chapter with Paris Saint-Germain, where he spent an impressive seven years. He played a crucial role in PSG's domestic dominance, securing multiple league titles, and cups, and earning admiration from fans worldwide.

Last season, however, saw Di Maria donning the colours of Serie A side Juventus, showcasing his versatility and adapting seamlessly to a new environment.

Now, the seasoned Argentine will reunite with his close friend and compatriot, Nicolas Otamendi, who played alongside Di Maria in Argentina's triumphant World Cup campaign last year.
