Angelina Jolie Reacts To Suspension Of Girls Schools By Afgh

Angelina Jolie on Wednesday raised her voice for Afghan girls who have been denied their right to education.

Taking to Instagram, the Hollywood superstar said, "Today the school year starts in most of Afghanistan.

"But the Taliban authorities have now said that all girl's secondary and high schools will be suspended indefinitely."

She added, "Most have been closed for eight months already in many Afghan provinces.

"Thinking of all the bright brilliant Afghan girls shut out of school."

This comes two weeks after an unnamed Afghan woman had written to the actress, describing the plight of women and girls in the Taliban controlled state.

The 'Maleficent' actress has since then pledged to use all resources within her power to make sure the voices of girl children in Afghanistan are properly heard.

Jolie has earlier worked for the UNHCR and done extensive humanitarian work for Afghan refugees.
