Another Historical Moment As NGX ASI Hits 47,394.53 Bps

Equity trading in the domestic bourse started on a positive note for the week as buying pressure increased following FCMB (+1.64%), ZENITHBANK (+0.56%), and WAPCO (+2.47%) growth in share value.

Thus, the all-share index grew by +0.14% to close at 47,394.53 basis points, which represented a 66.11 bps growth from the previous session position of 47,328.42 basis points.

The increased buying pressure pushed the all-share index to replace the old all-time high of 47,329.80 bps with 64.73 bps. Hence, the new 52-week all-time high is 47,394.53 bps.

The indicators for the Week-to-Date (W-t-D), Month-to-Date (M-t-D), and Year-to-Date (Y-t-D) grew by +0.14%, +1.65%, and +10.95%, respectively.

Apparently, the volume of trade grew by 18.73% to close at 300.76 million units traded in 5,434 transactions, compared to the previous session's figure of 253.30 million units traded. The value of shares also picked up by 0.61% to close at NGN2.77 billion, compared to the previous session's figure of NGN2.75 billion traded.

However, the equity market gained NGN35.63 billion as its cap closed at NGN25,543.07 trillion as against its previous session position of NGN25,507.44 trillion.

FCMB was still the most popular stock by volume, with 104.4 million units of shares worth NGN323.6 million traded. ZENITHBANK was the most popular stock by value, with 15.5 million units of shares worth NGN419.4 million traded.

Some of the notable mentions include GTCO with a share value of NGN229.4 million, and TRANSCORP, with a volume trade of 17 million units.

As measured by market breadth, the mood in the market was narrowly positive as 19 stocks gained, while 15 stocks lost.

The most gains were made by LINKASSURE (+10.00%), which closed trading at NGN0.55/unit, ROYALEX (+9.60%), which closed trading at NGN1.37/unit, REGALINS (+7.69%), which closed trading at NGN0.42/unit, and SUNUASSUR (+7.69%), which closed trading at NGN0.42/unit, while RTBRISCOE (-17.48%), which closed trading at NGN0.85/unit, ACADEMY (-9.69%), which closed trading at NGN1.77/unit, JAIZBANK (-5.19%), which closed trading at NGN0.73/unit, and VITAFOAM (-4.90%), which closed trading at NGN22.30/unit, registered the most losses.
