Anxiety In Osun As APC Undertakes House Of Assembly Primary

APC

There is anxiety in the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party commences its primary election into the state House of Assembly.

The primary election to determine the APC's state House of Assembly candidates kickstarts today nationwide.

Findings revealed that some APC lawmakers in the Osun State House of Assembly are in doubt if they will be given the ticket.

The APC in its timetable for the primary elections clearly stated that the state House of Assembly primaries will be determined by local government delegates.

Inside sources revealed that the Osun governor, Adegboyega Oyetola is afraid of causing disunity within the party with the State House of Assembly primary.

The sources disclosed that some state lawmakers have vowed to work against Governor Oyetola if they lose their seats after the conclusion of Thursday's primary.

Also, Governor Oyetola, as stipulated in the new Electoral Act, 2022, can not stop the exercise from being going ahead as planned.

The Osun APC have majority seats in the 26 member House of Assembly while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has three.

Out of the three opposition members, Adeniran Akanfe Atidade, a member representing Ede South State Constituency lost his bid to be the PDP candidate as he lost the primary election in the just-concluded State House of Assembly PDP primary election.

Osun gubernatorial election will hold on July 16, 2022, while the general election holds next year.
