Aondoakaa Condemns  Fresh Herdsmen Attack In Benue

Suspected herdsmen

Chief Michael Aondoakaa, SAN, on Saturday, condemned the fresh killings carried out by suspected criminals in Kwande, Gwer-west and other communities in Benue State.

Aondoakaa expressed his dismay at the unabated killings of innocent people in the state by marauders, who have continued to take lives at will by ransacking farming communities and maiming innocent people.

This he said is most notable during the farming season in various communities across the state, with no serious measures taken by the government and security agencies to stop them.

"Life is sacred and nobody has the right to take it on any account.

"This is a well-established pattern, but the government and security agencies are failing to do enough to entirely eradicate it. It is regrettable," he said.

"The governorship aspirant calls on the Nigerian Police Force and other relevant security agencies to investigate the recent dastardly attacks in the communities of Jato-Aka in Kwande LGA, Mbabuande and Mbakpa in Gwer-west LGA of the State, which resulted in the killing of scores of people, and to ensure the swift arrest and prosecution of those responsible."

Aondoakaa charged the federal and state governments to take adequate measures to prevent such assaults as the cardinal obligation of government, bemoaning the fact that after so many years, little or no real efforts have been taken to demonstrate the seriousness of government.

He also demanded  that the state government through Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), respond immediately by sending assistance items to the victims' families in the affected areas.
