APC: Buni To Lead National Convention

There are indications that Mai Mala Buni, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Caretaker Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee would supervise the party’s national convention on March 26, 2022.

Reports say Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari after a meeting with his allies in London, has directed that the Yobe State Governor should supervise the convention while forbidding further postponement.

According to PUNCH, Buhari denied ordering the removal of Buni as the party’s Caretaker Committee Chairman, adding that he had no preferred candidate for the chairmanship position and that the race for the leadership of the APC is open to all interested candidates.

Some APC Governors have been clamoring for the removal of Governor Buni of Yobe State as their Party’s Chairman, with Governor Nasir El Rufa’I being amongst the most vocal critic of Buni.

In fact, El Rufa’i, in an interview said President Buhari approved the removal of Buni, a claim the President has denied, according to the PUNCH.
