APC Elders in Kwara Protest Exclusion From Presidential Campaign Council

The elders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara South have expressed displeasure over the exclusion of members of the zone from the party’s Presidential Campaign Council.

An elder and secretary general of the Kwara South Consultative Forum (KSCF), Adebayo Daramola made this known today (Sunday) in a statement. 

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Daramola described the exclusion as an insult to the collective sensibility of APC members from the zone.

He noted that the zone had sacrificed more for the party. 

Members of the APC Presidential Campaign Council that made the list from Kwara in the just released names include: Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, La’Aziz Jimoh, Issa Aremu, Issa Onilu.

Others are Rahman Giwa, Sen Gbemisola Saraki, Sen Ibrahim Oloriegbe Ishiaq Modibbo Kawu and Baba Rasaq, the Governor’s younger brother.

Daramola said: “We should not entertain the impending marginalisation because our fear is that if Sen Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the party eventually wins, I hope we won’t be facing same in future appointments."

He further lamented that all the names included from the state were from the Kwara Central zone, adding that the party leadership must respond to their concerns. 

While alleging being marginalised, he said it would affect the unity of the party in the state.

He also noted that the zone has qualified people to join in bringing success to the party ahead of the 2023 elections and called on the governor to intervene swiftly.
