APC Senatorial Race: Ondo First Lady Quits Over 'Intimidation'

APC Senatorial Race: Ondo First Lady Quits Over 'Intimidatio

The First Lady of Ondo State, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has withdrawn from the APC senatorial race in Imo East following alleged intimidation.

Announcing her decision in the early hours of Sunday in a statement titled 'Notice of withdrawal from Senate race', she stated that her supporters were also intimidated.

The First Lady had cried out on Saturday over an alleged plot to shut her out of the process, revealing that she met with Governor Hope Uzodinma over the issue.

Akeredolu further disclosed that information reaching her showed that things had been put in place by “high authorities within the party” to select a particular aspirant.

"I must, at this juncture, appreciate Ada Owere's team, all my friends and supporters who stood by me during this period. Special thanks to the delegates who believed in me but were denied the opportunity to express their support", she stated.
