Appeal court reinstates Obalufe of Ile-Ife

Appeal court reinstates Obalufe of Ile-Ife

The Court of Appeal, Akure division, has reinstated Oba Dr. Idowu Olaniyi Adediwura as the Obalufe of Ile-Ife.

The landmark decision overturned the High Court's judgment against him.

In a unanimous decision, the appellate court struck out all cases challenging the Obalufe's emergence, citing lack of merit and jurisdiction.

Oba Dr. Idowu Olaniyi Adediwura hailed the verdict as a victory for the Ooni of Ife, the people of Ile-Ife, and the entire Yoruba race.

He reiterated that his appointment followed all constitutional and cultural procedures, and was approved by the then-Executive Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

The Obalufe also extended an olive branch to his brother, Abayomi Elufadejin, urging him to join hands in promoting peace and development in Ile-Ife.

"I express gratitude to the Ooni, kings, high chiefs, and the people of Ile-Ife for their support and pray for peace, development, and progress in Ile-Ife, Osun State, and Nigeria.

"This historic victory marks a new dawn in Ile-Ife, and my commitment to unity and progress is a beacon of hope for the ancient city," he said.

The people of Ile-Ife and beyond celebrate this landmark ruling, hailing the Obalufe as a symbol of leadership and wisdom.
