Apple has issued a robust response to the antitrust lawsuit filed against it by the Department of Justice (DOJ), refuting claims of anticompetitive behavior.

In statements shared with Apple Insider, the tech giant emphasized that it has never blocked competitors' apps and services nor employed tactics preventing users from breaking out of its "walled garden."

The DOJ accused Apple of monopolizing the software app market by imposing limitations on iOS, allegedly degrading the compatibility of innovative apps and cloud streaming services.

However, Apple countered, stating that it only selectively restricts APIs to protect user privacy and security, not to stifle competition.

Regarding third-party digital wallets and "super apps," Apple reiterated its stance on prioritizing user privacy and security.

It clarified that popular apps like Facebook, WeChat, and Line are available for iOS users, and game streaming services have always been welcome in the App Store.

In response to accusations of anticompetitive behavior related to the Apple Watch's deeper integration with the iPhone compared to rival wearables, Apple explained the challenges of supporting multiple operating systems and models.

It denied making it difficult for users to switch to competing products, asserting that data transfer from iPhone to Android devices is seamless.

Apple previously warned that the lawsuit could set a dangerous precedent, allowing the government to heavily influence technology design.

US Attorney General Merrick Garland, however, stated that Apple's actions discourage innovation and undermine competition.

As the legal battle unfolds, Apple remains committed to vigorously defending against the allegations, emphasizing its dedication to innovation and user experience.
