Approach your service year with dedication, sense of respons

Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to Osun State have been advised to approach the service with dedication, commitment and a sense of responsibility. 

They were also reminded that future leaders, the experience gained during the service year will shape their their outlook and contributions to society. 

This advise was contained in the contained in the introductory address of the NYSC Director General, Brigadier Yusha'u  Dogara Ahmed, during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Batch A Stream II orientation course at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Ede on Tuesday.

Represented by the Osun NYSC State Coordinator, Agbor Ndoma Obim, General Ahmed urged the corps members to embrace the opportunity to make positive impact in their history communities.

In his words, "As you undergo your Orientation Course here in Osun state, I encourage you to immerse yourselves in the rich culture and traditions of this land. Osun State is known for its warmth, hospitality and cultural heritage, and am confident that you will find your stay here rewarding and enriching."

Dogara also charged the corps members to embrace the three weeks orientation course because it is an investment in personal and national growth. 

According to him, "As you embark on the transformative journey, remember that the skills and values imparted during this orientation course will serve as life long assets. Carry them with pride and let them guide your actions. 

"I urge you to work towards distinguishing yourselves during the service year as the scheme has a system of rewarding hardwork and diligence. There are several awards reserved for outstanding performance such as the State Coordinator's commendation, Chairman's Award, State Honours Award and the Presidential Award. 

"Therefore, ensure you start distinguishing yourselves night from the Orientation Programme for these Awards."

He also maintained that the orientation programme extended behind me training as it also served as a catalyst for positive change and empowerment.

Earlier the state governor, Ademola Adeleke represented by the Commissioner for Youths Affairs, Moshood Olagunju, urged the corps members to embrace all the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the people of the state.

He also encouraged the corps members to immerse themselves in the local communities and learn their experiences and contribute meaningfully to their development projects.

While reminding the corps members that they were ambassadors of peace, he urged them to embrace the nation's diversity.

"Remember that you are ambassadors of peace, unity and progress. Embrace the diversity of our nation, respect the values of tolerance and understanding and work tirelessly towards building a better future for all Nigerians.

"The importance of the NYSC program cannot be overstated. It is a crucible for personal growth, self-discovery, and the development of crucial skills that will serve you throughout your lives. Embrace this opportunity with an open mind and a willingness to learn."

He also assured the corps members of the state government's unwavering commitment to ensuring their welfare and security throughout their service year. 

"Your safety is paramount and we will spare no effort to create an environment that allows you to focus on your responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to the communities where you are posted."
