Aondoakaa Abubu Alledgedly attacked by army personnel

Aondoakaa Abubu, a barrier assistant with the Benue Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) inspection point at North Bank, Makurdi, Benue state was abducted by men suspected to be Army personnel of the 72 Batallion.

Abdu was attacked for being a witness at a court inquest on the attack and subsequent murder of one of his colleagues by the alledged army personnel.

According to him, his abductors took him to 72 Barracks and later brought him back to the 'C' Division Police Station in the North Bank.

He said, "Those who attacked me are soldiers from 72 Barracks, who stormed the North Bank inspection point in a Commando style and started beating the revenue staff.

"I was taken to 72 Barracks and locked in the guardroom, where soldiers accused me of being amongst those that want to sack them by testifying at the coroner's inquest into the murder of an Inspector of Taxes, Sixtus Terfa Akure, who was abducted on January 15, 2022.

Sixtus Terfa Akure was allegedly killed by Army personnel of the 72 battalions in  Northbank for refusal to send remittance of tax collected to the army. His body was found by the roadside near Aper Aku Estate on January 16, 2022.
