Arsenal Miss Opportunity To Move Eight Points Clear Of Man C

Table toppers Arsenal were halted in their tracks by Brentford in their bid to move eight points clear at the top of the table.

Ivan Toney headed in a deserved equaliser for Brentford to cancel Leandro Trossard's opener.

This prevented the Gunners from bouncing back from their 1-0 defeat at Everton last week.

Brentford were the better side in the first half and should have gone in front had it been Rico Henry didn't miss a golden opportunity and Toney didn't hit the crossbar.

Arsenal regained their footing in the second half, playing with purpose and intensity to win the game.

Their patience in attack eventually paid off when Gabriel Martinelli was subbed off for Trossard who made an immediate impact when introduced.

Yet, the spirited Bees fought back to salvage a 1-1 draw.

With the result, Arsenal lead with six points at the summit of the log.

The gap could be reduced by Manchester City who are set to play Aston Villa on Super Sunday.

A win for the Cityzens would mean Arsenal's lead will be reduced to three points before both sides lock horns on Wednesday.

The points could be reduced to zero if Arteta's men get defeated by City at the Emirates on February 15th.
