Arsenal permanently signs center-back, Pablo Mari and right back, Cedric Soares from Flamengo and Southampton after both players completed their loan spells. The two defenders are brought in as cover for the new season as the Gunner push for both EPL trophy and Europa League competition.

The Gunners has agreed on permanent deals with defenders Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares after their loan spells in the second half of the 2019-20 campaign, the club said on their website on Monday.

Mari, 26, moved to the Premier League in January from Flamengo, where he helped win the Brazilian Serie A title and Copa Libertadores last year.

The Spanish center-back played three times for Arsenal before his season was ended prematurely by an ankle injury.

The 28-year-old Portuguese fullback Soares, who initially joined on a short-term loan deal from Southampton, made five league appearances for Mikel Arteta's side last season.

Arsenal has been linked with Lille center-back Gabriel Magalhaes by British media as Arteta looks for more defensive cover ahead of the league campaign, which begins on 12 September.

The Arsenal's club website states "We welcome both Pablo and Cedric to the club on a permanent basis and look forward to their continued contributions.

Both deals are subject to the completion of regulatory processes".
