Arsenal's Aubameyang Axed As Club's Skipper Over Disciplinary Breach

Arsenal's Aubameyang Axed As Club's Skipper Over Disciplinar

Gabonese forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been axed as Arsenal's captain and will not be considered for the mid-week fixture against West Ham United, the club confirmed on Tuesday.

According to the official statement on the club's website, "Following his latest disciplinary breach last week, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will no longer be our club captain, and will not be considered for selection for Wednesday’s match against West Ham United.

"We expect all our players, particularly our captain, to work to the rules and standards we have all set and agreed.

We are fully focused on tomorrow’s (Wednesday) match".

Aubameyang who was dropped against Southampton during the weekend EPL fixtures will not also play on Wednesday.

The official removal of Aubameyang could only mean that the relationship between the Gabonese and Mikel Arteta has declined further which could also mean the 32-year old striker might be looking for a way out of the club.

The move might not be easy given his recent 3-year renewal with the club till 2023.
