Arteta Confident Arsenal Can Get Back To Being Table Toppers

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says he is confident that his side can return to the summit of the Premier League table.

The Gunners dropped down to second place for the first time since August after losing to Manchester City on Wednesday night.

City defeated Arsenal 3-1 at the Emirates to become the first team in English football history to record seven successive away wins against the Gunners.

Addressing the media ahead of Saturday's Premier League match at Aston Villa, Arteta said: "I know the right things we have to do to continue to be there [at the top].

"We have seen where the level is and what we have to do to be at that level.

He added: "There are a lot of positive things to take, for sure, from the season so far [and Wednesday night's defeat at home to Manchester City].

"We know that the level of efficiency has to be good with every single game to beat them [City] at the end.

"We are highly motivated to do that."

The Gunners have failed to win three straight league matches in the second half of the season.

Their only point earned from their last three matches came against Brentford at the Emirates.

It is hoped that they will be able to bounce back to winning ways when Villa hosts them at the weekend.

Although they have a game in hand, Arteta's men can't afford to draw or lose, considering how things stand in the Premier League title race.
