Arteta defends Raya, Arsenal teammates despite errors agains

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has defended his goalkeeper David Raya and the rest of his players for the desire to make up for errors after a bad clearance gifted Tottenham Hotspur a goal and a chance to nick a draw in the 3-2 win on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners were seemingly coasting to a 3-0 win at the home of rivals, Spurs, but a terrible dink of the ball by the Spaniard saw Christian Romero place the ball firmly into the Arsenal net.

Hueng-min Son went on to score another goal through a penalty kick but Mikel Arteta's side held on and celebrated St. Totteringham day at the Spurs stadium.

Arteta was impressed by the character showed by his countryman as well as his temmates at the post match press conference.

"It was a really emotional game. Very tough place to come, obviously an incredible atmosphere at the stadium and a great team to play against," the Arsenal head coach stated.

"At 3-0 up you’re in control of the game. We come into the second half and we were dominating the game and creating chances.

"And then, yeah, an individual error happens that clicks something, it puts a wrong message in your brain. But I think we started to deal with the situation better.

"Another one and then it’s game on and they have the players and the courage to commit a lot of players forward.

"We had to dig in, suffer, react and I’m very pleased with the way my team has done it.’
