Arteta Willing To Make Tough Decisions In Summer Transfer Window

Arteta Willing To Make Tough Decisions In Summer Transfer Wi

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says he has "tough decisions" to make on player exits as well as new signings during the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have secured their spot in next season's Champions League for the first time since the 2026-17 season and are aiming to add depth to their squad despite spending a combined total of £59m to sign Leandro Trossard from Brighton, Jorginho from Chelsea and Jakub Kiwior from Spezia in January.

"They are always tough decisions," Arteta told Sky Sports. "Whether it's to recruit, or other decisions.

"Some players sometimes don't want to continue with us, some staff members.

"It's always tough, especially when you have good relationships with those individuals, but we are here to win.

"That's the purpose of everybody at the club.

"We have to win and to win we have to do it our way and to do that we have to make decisions."

This season has proven to be remarkable for Arsenal who finished in fifth position in the Premier League last season.

Arteta's men are in second position and are optimistic that they can still win the title despite being thrashed 4-1 by league leaders Manchester City who have played fewer matches.

The Gunners still have the opportunity to move back in front if they can squeeze out a win against a struggling Chelsea side in the London derby at the Emirates today.
