The representative of the Ideato North state constituency, at the Imo House of Assembly, Arthur Egwim, has passed on after a battle with health-related issues.
Egwim's passing was confirmed in a statement signed by the House speaker, Emeka Nduka (APC Ehime Mbano).
Nduka referred to the late lawmaker as “a ranking parliamentarian of note and a strong voice at the assembly.”
Speaking further, the speaker said Egwim's death would create a vacuum in the House as he was its “finest and best brains”.
Nduka further prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul.
Until his untimely demise, Egwim served as chief whip of the house after he was first elected in 2015.
He was one of those who unsuccessfully contested in the House of Representatives seat in the February 25 national assembly elections on the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) platform.
