Nigerian singer, Seun Kuti, is of the opinion that some Nigerian artistes use his father's name, Fela Kuti, to be reckless and rude to their elders under the guise of singing.
Speaking during an Instagram live chat with Triple MG boss, Ubi Franklin, Kuti said many claim that Fela influenced their style of music which is afrobeats, but seize the opportunity to smoke, and be rude to their elders.
According to him, many of those artistes grew up in Christian and Muslim homes, but use Fela's influence to chase girls and smoke, an act he describes as a minute aspect of his father.
He said “I think most of them grew up in Christian and Muslim homes and use Fela as an excuse to smoke and chase girls cuz other than that, that aspect of Fela which is a really really minute and also using that to be rude and reckless to your elders. They are not really rude to authorities”
