ASP Ahmed Yusuf was freed from his captors in a bush between Kwara and Oyo State, according to the Kwara police.
On October 11, six armed men kidnapped Ahmed of the IGP monitoring team attached to the state command from his home in Ilorin.
The confirmation was given in a statement released on Sunday in Ilorin by the command's spokesman, Okasanmi Ajayi.
He said that a team made up of the command tactical teams, neighbourhood vigilantes, hunters, and the Oyo state Amotekun Squad saved the police officer.
But according to Ajayi, none of the kidnappers was captured.
The ASP was getting a medical checkup before being permitted to be with his family, the spokesman said.
He added that more is being done to apprehend the kidnappers and bring charges against them.
Paul Odama, the state's commissioner of police expressed his appreciation for the police and vigilante teams' bravery in saving the ASP.
Odama promised to purge the state of all criminal elements.
