Aston Villa vs Arsenal: Arteta Provides Update On Thomas Partey Injury

Aston Villa vs Arsenal: Arteta Provides Update On Thomas Par

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta says midfielder Thomas Partey "had a muscular issue", hence the decision to withdraw him in the second half of the English Premier League (EPL) match versus Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Gunners lost one nil at Villa Park, no thanks to an early goal.

The Ghanaian was subbed off for Willian in the 75th minute after notifying the technical crew of his challenge.

"He had a muscular issue," Arteta said after the match.

"We had to take him off, he could not continue playing.

"We will see the extent of the injury."

Partey has already missed 10 games due to injury since joining Arsenal in October 2020.

Arsenal are currently without Kieran Tierney who has missed the last two league games with a leg injury.

However, the former Celtic left-back will be hopeful of featuring against Leeds a week on Sunday as the London club look to bounce back from their two consecutive league defeats.

Bernd Leno and David Luiz will also be back for the match at Emirates Stadium after serving their one game bans respectively.
