The Federal Government is set to issue a certificate of registration to the Congress of Nigerian University Academics (CONUA).
This was made known in an invitation received by Daily Post on Tuesday from the Deputy Director of Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Oshundun Olajide.
According to the invitation, Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, will present the certificates in his Conference Room at Federal Secretariat, Phase 1, Abuja by 2 pm today.
CONUA is a university academic union inaugurated with 750 lecturers of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife in 2018.
The congress is led by ‘Niyi Sunmonu, a lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.
The invitation issued by the Ministry reads: “The Honorable Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige cordially invites you to the recognition and presentation of Certificate of Registration to the Congress of Nigerian University Academics.”
ASUU was recently ordered by the National Industrial Court to return to work, a ruling which the union filed an appeal against.
